Im sorry but I hope you will excuse me for posting my blog in English today:(
I dont know how to change the language at a cyber cafe:(
and I would love to post pictures but I dont know how to do that either:(
So!
I am just writing to say that I am alive and actually pretty happy in India! Even though I am bored to death!
Five words to describe India would be
SMELLY
CROWDED
UNPROFFESSIONAL
FRIENDLY
The friendliness of everyone here is really a relief.
It is my 4th day here and because I have no work yet (due to miscommunication as the people of the LC say) I have been roaming around the city which is actually quite fun:)
I usually go around the city by an auto-rickshaw or on the back of somebodys bike;) wohoo Everybody rides a bike here
The picture is of an auto rickshaw. They are the local taxis here and you usually bargain the prices which I totally suck at doing. The girls from Bahrain are so good at this.
The traffic here is EXTREMELY chaotic, I dont think any Indian would be able to get a drivers license in Japan and I am surprised I havent been hit by a car yet.
I am now homestaying at one of the aiesecers house along with two other girls from Bahrain. The house is gorgeous really and we have maids coming in to clean the dishes, floors everything, but its a strange place because its a long road with huge mansions but right next to it there is like a slum area where the maids stay. Ill upload pictures if I get the chance to later on.
There is also a trainee flat about 30 minutes from where I am staying and there are people from Turkey, Czech, Poland, Ukraine, Malaysia, Mauritius, Malta, Bahrain (A LOT), Germany, China (A LOT) Spain, Ivory Coast etc. and they are all very interesting to talk to. One Bahranian girl is very religious and is having her Ramadan now, so somedays I fast with her for a diet. It makes me go crazy. Oh but I might go travelling to Goa(beach area) with some of them this weekend!! yay!!
But all in all,
I have already gotten quite bored of roaming around the city and bargaining the prices for everything I get.
I will hopefully start working at the earliest tomorrow (which probably wont happen) so I am calling the people from the LC everyday. They are extremely friendly but not so neat on work. The EPs tell me the average waiting time is about a week and a half to get work. :( :( :(
So I am researching NGOs now. There has got to be something I can do in India besides telling taxi drivers that I am poor and cannot pay.
But it seems I should be grateful for the care I am getting from Aiesec Pune, especially considering the reception Yone is getting at his place. haha. I am so glad there is another person from Keio in Indiaaaa:( Thank you Yone.
Hopefully the next time I post a blog it will be in Japanese and about my work!
I MISS JAPANNNNN
Lots of love from Indiaaaaa,
Ai
